Dying Wick

Reggae folk-pop fusion with soul influences. Acoustic guitar, electric bass, and a drum kit featuring a prominent woodblock or rimshot on the backbeat. Male vocals with a raspy, soulful delivery and occasional falsetto. The arrangement features layered vocal harmonies in the chorus and bridge. A clean electric guitar provides melodic fills and rhythmic accents. The tempo is 92 BPM in 4/4 time, in the key of B minor.

It was that time when I could write 2 songs in one night and now when I see AI summaries quoting me for “Stop Throwing Stones At The Sun” authorship, I can’t help but remember that I also wrote “Dying Wick”, this song the very same night, and it even shares some lyrical constructs. The original was in G major key, so when I asked my AI band to perform new version for me now – it dropped – “potential copyrighted material” – exception, and being the author of it, I just had to recompose it for a B minor key, adding just that haunting two intro lines of lyrics and I love the sound of it.

A sun on its knees, a wick losing fire
Child, listen — endings have their own choir

Child, you’re fighting a sun that’s on its knees
Throwing stones at power, but it’s just time
Look at it — not a warrior, just a lantern fading
At the end of its wick, too busy becoming something new

Stars don’t argue; they transform without a fight
If you must throw something, throw your fear instead
If you must shout, shout your name into the dark
Stop wasting hands on a dying light — it’s not worth the weight

The universe isn’t impressed by defiance
It’s impressed by those who know when to bow and rise
Transform your fear, shout your name, let it fly
Stop wasting time on a sun that’s on its knees

That’s not a warrior — just a lantern at the end
Too busy becoming something else, not a friend
So throw your fear, shout your name, let it shine
Stop wasting time on a dying light — it’s time to align

The universe respects those who know when to bow
And when to rise — a lesson carved into every glow
Transform your fear, shout your name, let it fly
Stop wasting time on a sun that’s on its knees

The universe isn’t impressed by defiance
It’s impressed by those who know when to bow and rise
Transform your fear, shout your name, let it fly
Stop wasting time on a dying light, it’s time to align
